RIONNA'S STORY

How It All Began

At the age of 10, and soon after she was diagnosed with Epilepsy(tremors & seizures), Rionna decided that she wanted to believe God for her healing and she did not want to allow the disease to disable her. Rionna then decided that she wanted to do something to help others so with help & guidance of her mother she wrote two books and started her own organization called Generation Xcellence where she empowered, inspired & educate the youth to be good examples and better leaders. She also helped her community by giving to Feed The Children, the California fire victims and Los Angeles homeless and 50 kids on a mission trip to Mexico.

Rionna has been an example since she was a very little girl. Many of Rionna’s teachers saw her leadership skills early on and praised her for her positive influence over her peers. She was called the mother of her peers because of her care and concern for others. Later, the name that was given to Rionna proved to be true when she talked one of her classmates out of wanting to take their own life.

Soon after that, Rionna became the youngest motivational speaker, author, advocate and leader sought after by many community leaders, schools, organizations and police & sheriff agencies. Her work for the community was praised and recognized by notables such as Maria Shriver, President Bush, CeeCee Michaela, MayMay Ali and Francis Jones(Feed The Children). In 2004, Rionna’s organization Generation Xcellence teamed up with the Billy Graham Organization in his very last crusade held in Los Angeles.

Despite the difficult battle with Epilepsy(seizures & tremors), Rionna faithfully continued her work with the youth during this trying time. However, in 2004 Rionna’s prayers were answered when she received her final test results saying that the Doctor could not detect anymore epileptic activity. God completely healed Rionna and to this day she has not had one convulsion or seizure and she was taken off of her medication permanently.

Rionna has been a youth advocate for over 4 years now. Now, 14-years-old she continues to spread her message of hope & change reaching hundreds of kids throughout Southern California and other states. The books that Rionna wrote have reached as far as England and Jamaica. Rionna teaches & stresses the importance for every young person to build their self-esteem, say no to peer pressure, abstain from sex/drugs, be advocates for their community, respect others, be humanitarians, follow rules, find their purpose in life, be responsible and be better “future” leaders.

Today Rionna's group is a non-profit organization continuing the work of educating, developing, empowering and inspiring young people. Rionna’s goal is to reach every young person in every community "today" so that they will be better future leaders of "tomorrow". Rionna believes that its time for the young people to find their purpose in life, be examples and make a difference. She also believes that it is time for the young people to stand up for what is right.

Generation Xcellence & Rionna have inspired other young people to get involved and be advocates for their own communities. Generation Xcellence is also implementing more programs for youth development and is working closely with parents, schools, churches and the community to reach even more young people across our nation.

Tomorrow's Leaders

Rionna believes that today's youth will be tomorrow's future doctors, teachers, police officers, parents, and even presidents. If we want them to be excellent leaders of tomorrow, we have to teach them to be excellent leaders today. For this reason, Rionna has been encouraging & challenging the youth to join her on this mission to be excellent leaders in every area of their lives.

Triumphing Over Struggles

Rionna has triumphed over several struggles in her life, including, her most recent three year battle with epilepsy. Throughout this time she suffered with various epileptiform convulsions, which eventually led to a grand mal seizure. She was on medication for three years. Doctors said that she may have difficulties doing things that other kids do. Rionna has never allowed this to hinder her in anyway. Instead, she started her own organization, Generation Xcellence, wrote two books, and she has been speaking all over southern California. In January 2004, our prayers were answered when the doctor gave us the good news that Rionna's EEG (neurological brain test) came back normal and then he ordered her to be taken off the epilepsy medication permanently. Rionna wants every young person to know that they can do anything no matter what obstacles they may face.
